How do I change my paper type?

You can do this in the book details section.

I have ordered book and realised there is a mistake. What can I do?

Unfortunately once you have approved your proof for printing, we can not make any changes. You will have to make the change and order another copy.

My photo doesn't look right! How do I fix this?

There are two options when adding photos...

  • Fill the page with my picture
  • Shrink my picture to fit in the page

Try switching options and see how it looks. If the picture still isn't right, you'll need to edit the image using an image editing tool and reupload.

My photos look pixelated. Can Bookitude fix this?

Unfortunately not. If the image isn't good enough quality it will appear pixelated on screen and in print. You need to retake the picture or choose another image. If you are scanning pictures and then uploading, please ensure you are selecting the highest dpi possible on your scanner.

On my proof, the content is outside of the red lines. Is this ok?

Well, it depends... When a book is bound, there needs to be a certain margin in the middle (the binding edge) for the binding. If you have text in here then it will be hidden when the book is bound. Wire bound books need this margin to allow for the holes that are punched through the paper to add the wire. Any text or images that appear here will be punched through. The other edges don't matter as much but the book may look unprofessional if you have text to close to the edge (outside the red box). If you have images that you want to run to the edge of the page, then this fine.

I have created a page and the text or content is cut off at the bottom. What do I need to do?

This means you have too much text or content for the page option you have chosen. There are two ways to fix this. You can either change the size of your font or change the size of your book.

What is an ISBN, and do I need one?

An ISBN is the number near the barcode on the back of a book. It's a unique identifier which can help customers find your book, and help keep track of sales./p>

If you're only planning on passing the book to your family and friends, you won't need an ISBN. However, if you're looking to sell your book, you may need one. Legally, if you have an ISBN, you should also send some copies of your book to the British Copyright Library.

You can purchase them from Nielsen UK.

How Much will it cost?

You can find out a rough estimate of how much your book will cost by selecting the type of book you are going to create. There will then be a button that says 'How much will by book cost?'. This is worked out on the amount of pages your book will have. You can also change the presentation level of your book in 'Book details'. This will also affect the price of the book.

What are the recommended margins, bleed and font size?

We recommend a margin of 18mm on the top and bottom, 18mm outer and 15mm inner. For bleed, we will trim off 2.5mm. The font sizes are 11pt for small, 13pt for medium, and 16pt for large. This is for a memoir, novel and a poetry book. These sizes are relevant only to the main body of text.
